As the star of a Hulu series, a new memoir and a Netflix documentary, Pamela Anderson certainly has no shortage of headlines. The former Playboy cover model is getting ready to share the story of her jam-packed life with fans in a new memoir, Pamela, A Love Story, which hits shelves Jan. 31 alongside a documentary from the same name. But there’s one thing the woman whose slow-motion run down a beach is a pop culture reference point doesn’t want anyone to forget: that she has been a victim of sexual harassment on set.
In the book, she alleges that her Home Improvement co-star Tim Allen flashed her on the first day of filming in 1991. She claims she was 23 at the time and a virgin, and says the incident made her feel “shocked, embarrassed and humiliated.” Allen has denied the allegation in the past, calling it false and defamatory.
She has since gone on to a career as an actress and activist, appearing on the Broadway stage in her own version of Chicago last spring and starring as Roxie Hart in a television adaptation of the classic musical. She’s also spoken out for various causes, including animal rights (in 2016 she met with Vladimir Putin and top Kremlin officials to help save whales), the fight against online pornography (she wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal alongside Orthodox Rabbi Shmuley Boteach calling it a public hazard) and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
On a more personal level, she’s an advocate for the LGBTQ community and has spoken out against bullying. She’s also an author and has been involved in a number of businesses, including the successful sex toys line Pamela’s Collection. Anderson lives on a waterfront property in her hometown of Ladysmith on Canada’s Vancouver Island, where she’s currently renovating a home with her husband and son. She recently planted a tea garden on the property and hopes to learn pottery in an effort to challenge herself with new experiences. She also enjoys baking and cooking, and recently shared a recipe for her favorite breakfast of eggs and toast with the Arc Ady newsletter.
In addition to the aforementioned projects, she’s set to host a Netflix show next year called Pamela’s Cooking With Love. The series will explore plant-based cuisine and features Anderson as sous-chef and host. The show will also feature a variety of guest chefs who will prepare healthy meals for the stars of the series and their families.
